Budgeting is the Key to Financial Freedom
There is one thing we see over and over again for people drowning in debt – the need to get a handle on spending. Budgeting is the key to financial freedom. Here is a great article from the New York Times on just that:
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/02/smarter-living/how-to-start-a-budget.html. Even when we file a bankruptcy to rid our clients of unmanageable debt, budgeting is essential. This is especially true in Chapter 13 cases where for 3 to 5 years, our clients need to keep up with payments to a trustee as well as other critical debts such as rent or mortgage payments, car loans, taxes and other critical current bills.
Our mission and goal is to help our clients turn their lives around, but as I often tell people, we have the easy part: getting the bankruptcy filed and through a First Meeting of Creditors or getting a plan confirmed. Our clients have the harder part.
This extra care and attention to helping our clients with the long term is what we do.
